Crops according to geographical requirement and distribution are majorly divided into two types- Rabi and Kharif.
Rabi (also called winter crops): The season for Rabi is from October to March. They include wheat, barley, cereals (oats), oilseeds, gram etc.
Kharif (also known as monsoon crops): the season of Kharif is from July to October. They include rice, maize, bajra, pulses, soya bean, groundnut, cotton etc.
The crops which grow from March to June, the remaining period are known as summer crops.
