Answer:

Explanation:

Solid wastes can be removed through physical means but dissolved wastes such as fecal wastes, Industrial chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers etc... are difficult to remove. It requires pollutant specific cleaning processes.

In simple terms, "when thousands of pollutants are mixed in the water, then you need thousands of anti-pollutant chemicals for remediation", which makes it an arduous task.

Bio-remediation is a natural way of cleaning up using Plants, bacterial decomposers or enzymes to remove contaminants and restore the balance in water bodies.

For example, there are three kinds of oil-consuming bacteria;

1. Sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB)

2. Acid-producing bacteria and

3. General Aerobic Bacteria (GAB).

But the problem is, most of the chemicals are either highly toxic in nature or made of elements which makes them difficult to decompose.

According to me, the best solutions include

1. Increased awareness about cleanliness.

2. Proper infrastructure for sanitation .

3. Stringent rules for use and decomposition of industrial chemicals.

4. Heavy fines on dumping against rules(Polluter pays principle).

5. Localized or zonal pollution monitoring mechanisms to control the point source pollution
