Hey there !!

1) Nouns with the article “a”-
Basically, all nouns starting with a consonant have the article “a” before them. Some examples include :
Skateboard, Guitar, Ball, Sack, Briefcase, Doll, Belt, Headphones, Spoon, Carpet, Wine, Cigarette, Basket, Lady, Dude, Ring, etc.

2) Nouns with the article “an”-
Here, all the nouns beginning with a vowel will have the article “an” before them. But for the vowel “u” alone, not everywhere will the article “an” will be used. Some examples include :
Oil, Apricot, Eagle, Ink, Orange, Acid, Egg, Ice, Ornament, Appetizer, Image, etc.
As for “u”, in some cases like “umbrella”, “Unbalance” “an” can be used. But for other nouns like “Unification”, “a” will be used. This is because you say the word with the sound, “yuu” where y is a consonant. But in the case of “umbrella”, you start with the “umm” sound where u is a vowel.

Hope this helps ya ✌️✌️
