The most primary reason for their decreasing numbers is deforestation and human encroachment. Nagaland which remained the untouched part of our country for so long has finally looked upon by people of the central plain, in good intentions of helping the people living and increasing the quality of life, by building roads, bridges, towers, shopping complexes, thereby increasing human presence in an once untouched biosphere hence hindering with the local flora and fauna by deforestation, landslides, hunting animals for food and protection etc.
