they refused to plant indigo because it needs more water more fertile soil and after harvesting indigo they cannot use it for another plant to grow on it and zamindar would collect more than enough taxes

Some of the problems of farmers in 18th century in India are listed below :
1. No landownership rights.
2. High land revenue .
3. Oppression of jagirdars and zamindars. They used to extract from the peasants as much as they could.
4. Exploitation of moneylenders.
5. In case they failed to pay taxes, they were denied the land to produce.
6. Harsh treatment to peasants by the officials employed by the Jagirdars.
7. Low prices of agricultural commodities.
8. No investment in farming by the jagirdars which lead to less production.
