Some ways by which we can save electricity in school and at home are:

Encouraging the use of cross ventilation by constructing windows on the opposite sides of the walls to enable sufficient air circulation and reduce the usage of fan.

Encouraging the plantation of trees around the school campus to provide a cooler environment and bring down the usage of fans.

Building a green roof that reflects the sunlight falling on it instead of absorbing it which brings down the temperature of the house/school.

Implementation of glass pane windows to allow maximum sunlight to enter the classroom.

Replacing monochrome light bulbs with energy efficient LED bulbs.

Switching off unnecessary lights and fans when not in use.

Reduce the consumption of energy draining appliances. This can be done by cleaning and servicing the appliances from time to time as a clean and well maintained appliance runs on optimum energy without overuse.

Housing can be insulated with adequate eco friendly materials, preventing excess heat or cold into the house and reducing the usage of Air conditioners or Heaters.

Promoting the use of earthen pots in school for consumption of drinking water.

Schools can take up an initiative such as observing Earth Hour every week to engage students with the importance of saving electricity .
