Company rule in India (also known as Company Raj) was the British East India Company's rule or dominion over parts of the Indian subcontinent.

List of the steps of land survey:

  • After the Battle of Plassey, when the Company conquered Mughal Bengal, is thought to have started in 1757.

  • The Company was later granted the Diwani, or right to collect revenue in Bengal and Bihar; or in 1773, when it established a capital in Calcutta, appointed Warren Hastings as its first Governor-General, and became directly involved in governance.

  • By 1818, the British had defeated the Marathas, retired the Peshwa, and annexed his lands.
