Wool brought Britain much of it’s early wealth. It is a beautiful product and can be very useful in many, many ways.

Carpets, sweaters, socks, blankets, dresses, uniforms, nearly anything wearable can be made of wool. It is a great insulator. It can be spun so fine it can be used in heat as an insulator in clothing. It was used as a home insulator until less expensive substitutes became available.

I’m sure I have left out other applications, but these are the ones which come to mind.

Fine pieces are handed down and carefully stored against moths and carpet beetles, which will eat it.
