In earlier times, when people didn't have televisions or internet or social media, people used to entertain themselves in the following ways:

1) men used to gather at a certain place and play cards or talk about the happenings in the neighborhood or about politics etc.

2) women used to gather in the evening and used to talk about their daily chores and used to gossip. They also used to sing traditional songs.

3) children used to play various outdoor games, which now have been forgotten.

4) Various street plays and dramas were also a way of entertainment for the whole community.
