Diwali:

The festival of Diwali is celebrated for the worshipping of Goddess Laxmi. The people of this state firmly believe that Goddess Lakshmi emerges on this day to bless the world with success and good fortune. It is also believed by Gujaratis that the goddess visits houses which are well-lit so that they happily take the initiative to decorate their houses with lights, flowers, and paper chains.

Kite Festival:

Also known as Makar Sankranti i.e. 14 January. Many colorful and distinctive-shaped kites are soaring high in the air and touching the sky. The festival is also known as Uttarayan. Kites battle with each other high in the air and the air all around emits victorious cries of joy. People don special traditional attire and relish special food items on this day.

Holi:

The spring festival of Holi celebrated in Gujarat falls in the month of Phalgun, which is between February and March. The festival of Holi assumes a whole new color in the state of Gujarat and hence the people of the state hum to the tunes of folk songs like “Govind Aala Re, Zara Mat Kissam Bhil Brijbala”. In the festivals here, fun is defined in different forms. People greet each other with colors, play with the colors and get happiness the tradition of breaking utensils is celebrated with great pomp here. It is an extreme pleasure to see human pyramids breaking down on buttermilk on the road. The lighting of bonfires is also a special feature of Holi celebrations in Gujarat.
