Yamuna: Rivers in India are not only the source of water but worship places of  God and Goddess and considered revered as sacred. I

n spite of that rivers are being polluted due to wastewater and sewer water discharges without treatment.

This causes serious pollution of the rivers.

No arresting soil erosion, and by dumping plastic and other non-biodegradable waste into river water causing serious river pollution.

The Yamuna River once had ‘clear blue’ pure drinkable water but now the river is one of the most polluted rivers in the world especially around New Delhi as it is carrying the wastewater and garbage of the city of Delhi.

The capital dumps 58% of SOLID  waste into the Yamuna.

Taj Mahal:

Built by the Mogul emperor 350 years ago Shah Jehan as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal was built of marble,   jade, turquoise,  lapis lazuli and  other precious stones.

But its shining white walls have begun fade away due to the effect of pollution from vehicles emission of greenhouse gases.

Despite serious efforts by the Indian government to curb air pollution around the 17th-century monument, its shimmering white marble is turning yellow.

Airborne settling down on the Taj Mahal’s marble, damaging it. In the past, the authorities have established an air pollution monitoring center in Agra.

It was revealed that while air pollutants like nitrous oxide and sulphur dioxide were within tolerable limits, the suspended particulate matter reached the tolerance levels.

Corrosive acid rain is also to be a cause behind the discoloration of the Taj Mahal.
