Answer:
Aim:-
To make saturated and unsaturated solutions.
Materials required:-
- One beaker
- Sugar
- Measuring flask
- Spoon
- Water
Procedure:-
- Wash the beaker well to clean it.
- Fill the beaker with 100milliliters of water using the measuring flask.
- Continue adding sugar to the water in little quantities while stirring with a spoon.
- Continue adding sugar in this manner while vigorously stirring until the added sugar no longer dissolves.
- Then add another 100milliliters of water to the solution and stir the remaining undissolved sugar.
Observation:-
- It has been noticed that the sugar does not dissolve in the solution after a certain amount of sugar has been added. At this point the solution becomes saturated.
- However, when more water is added to the solution, the sugar started to dissolve because adding more water makes the solution unsaturated.
Analysis:-
- The solution is considered to be saturated when it has reached the point where no more solute can dissolve in it. A saturated solution is one that contains all of the solute that may possibly dissolve in it.
- On the other hand, a solution is considered unsaturated when more solute can be added to the solution. A solution is said to be unsaturated if it doesn't contain all of the solute that can dissolve in it.
- As a result, if more solute is added and it does not dissolve, the original solution has become saturated. If the extra solute dissolves, the original solution was unsaturated.
