\bold{\underline{Answer:-}}

Diagram of the human nerve cell is in the attachment ⬆️

Essentially, nerve cells, also known as a neurons, are the active component of the nervous system. Neurons communicate with each other as well as with other cells through electric signals (nerve impulses), which in turn allows effector organs to respond to the appropriate stimuli.

Answer:-

Essentially, nerve cells, also known as a neurons, are the active component of the nervous system. Neurons communicate with each other as well as with other cells through electric signals (nerve impulses), which in turn allows effector organs to respond to the appropriate stimuli.

More information:

The structure of a neuron allows it to rapidly transmit nerve impulses to other cells. The axon of many neurons has an outer layer called a myelin sheath (see Figure above). Myelin is a lipid produced by a type of a glial cell known as a Schwann cell.

A nerve cell is the smallest functional unit of the nervous system. Nerve cells are usually shaped like trees. From the round, pyramidal or spindle-shaped cell body the dendrites (greek: dendrites = tree-like) branch out like the top of a tree and the single axon travels out like the trunk.
