I saw a man with 4 children. There stood in the corner a woman. She seems to be their mother. I ran inside and told my mother about the strange people standing at the door. My mom patiently (as she is always) came to the door. She asked them about their identity but they refused to do so. At this moment I became frustrated and suggested my mother that we should call the police. The man overheard me and retorted " "We are neither burglars nor any kind of people who intend to harm you, we are just Jews which the cruel Nazi party is running after. We have come to request you for shelter for a couple of months." My mother, being soft and kind-hearted asked the people to come inside. She led them to the basement and assured them that they can live there with alleviation.
My father arrived home afterwards and he was informed about the incident that took place. He seemed worried yet consent.
Two weeks passed by with them in our house. We heard that the police was checking for people's basement for Jews which created a tension atmosphere in our house. The people said that they didn't wanted to get us into any kind of trouble and they decided to leave. But we were determined to keep them safe and assured them to be free of rigidity.
A couple of days after, it was a cool Sunday morning. My parents were talking over a cup of tea when the doorbell rang. I opened the door.
No need for me to announce, " Mom, it's the police. "
