Hi there!

Atmosphere:

We can call the immediate surroundings atmosphere, or the people around as atmosphere, of school.

But Atmosphere here specifically refers to our Biospheric layer. That is the source of protection of Earth. Yes, you heard it right ,our Earth has a protective covering like any other Planet.

It is made of elements with various densities. It is like the Core, Mantle and Crust, except that it starts outside the Crust and is made of air gas elements.

Atmosphere is very vital for a planet. Because we have such a great atmosphere ,Earth has Life. Otherwise, many planets in our solar system doesn't have Life because of a lack of a protective atmosphere.

Ozone layer is a particularly important part of our Atmosphere. It protects the earth from the harmful Ultra-Violet rays. These rays in their full intensities have ge capacity to cause diseases like cancer and genetic mutation. This is applicable for most life-forms.

A. Composition of the Atmosphere:

Three major constituents:
a. Nitrogen

b. Oxygen

c. Argon

And others:

d. Water Vapors- roughly 0.25%

e. Other gases(Trace gases)

B. Structure of the Atmosphere:

1. Troposphere
The lowest layer of earth's atmosphere. It extends from earth's surface to about 12kms on average. It varies in various parts earth. The temperature usually declines with increasing altitude in this layer.

2. Stratosphere: The second lowest layer separated by the Tropopause from Troposphere. It is roughly 12km from it at an altitude of around 50-55km.
It contains the ozone layer.

3. Mesosphere:
The third layer at an altitude of about 50km to the Mesopause at 80-85km above sea level.

4. Thermosphere:
The second highest layer, whose length varies considerably. It has changes in solar activity and lies at the lower boundary of the Exosphere
. It is also called EXOBASE.

5. Exosphere:
The outermost layer of Earth's atmosphere. It merges at the top into the solar wind. It is mainly composed of extremely high densities hydrogen, helium, etc.

Now, that is called an ATMOSPHERE!

Hope your assignment gets completed!
