One of the most biodiverse regions can be found in India. A wide range of ecozones like high mountains, tropical and temperate forests, deserts, plains, the island archipelago, grassland and areas around rivers.  

There are also four biodiversity hotspots with a number of endemic flora and fauna species in India, namely the Western Ghats, the Sundaland which includes the Nicobar islands, the Himalayas and the Indo-Burma region.

India is also home to large mammals like the Bengal tiger, Indian rhinoceros, Asiatic lion, Asian Elephant, and the leopard.

There are an estimated 18,000 species of flowering plants in India like the Lotus, Indian Lilly, Hibiscus, pines, deodars, and junipers.
