Unke Munke Timpetoo is a short story by Sigrun Srivastava.
Actual story
In the story, a boy wants a table tennis set very badly for his Birthday. His friend Muk tells him that his wish can be fulfilled by running around a banyan tree at midnight and chant ing seventeen times: Unke, Munke, Timpetoo’.
Though he does not believe it, he tries to make an attempt and with his friend goes to the banyan tree in his ex-Principal, Mrs Groover's house. He is caught in the middle by the lady but when he explains the reason she allows him to complete the rounds.
On his birthday he receives the table tennis set but it is not given by his mother or friend. In doubt, he approaches Mrs. Groover and learns that she too has not gifted him.
Funny ending to the story.
When the boy approaches Mrs. Groover, the lady welcomes him home and asks him what took him so long to come to her house. She explains that it was her idea to give the gift for his confidence. The boy tells Mrs Groover that he had imagined it was the work of Unke, Munke, Timpetoo.
Mrs Groover laughed aloud and said he was being so childish. Though he felt so funny in front of Mrs Groover, he was happy that he got what he wanted.
Hope this helps.
