Make in India is an ambitious campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 September 2014 in New Delhi. The objective of launching this campaign is to make India the destination of a global manufacturing hub. To make this campaign a success, the PM of India met the top 40 CEOs of several Fortune 500 companies. The scheme was launched in the presence of top CEOs from India Inc, ambassadors, international industry leaders, ministers, government officials etc.
The campaign has aimed to call top companies from well-identified countries. A select few domestic companies that are leaders in the field of innovation and new technologies have also been invited. There is a special unit in the Ministry of Commerce called "Invest India" which helps in guiding all the top foreign investors along with regulatory and policy issues and helps in obtaining regulatory clearances.
