Make notes of the following passage:-
“One can’t deny that the invention of science have helped mankind to enjoy life to the
full. Inventions like television, cinema, railway and aeroplanes have brought numerous comforts
and recreations into human life. Yet science has also proved to be a great enemy of the human
race. The invention of the atom bomb is a case in point. It has made modern wars a thousand
times more destructive. Earlier, war was limited to the battlefield, but today it becomes a total
war. The great powers like Russia and America are spending a lot of their resources on the
production of nuclear weapons.
Man has become a slave to machines. Human life has become more mechanical. Man
has been separated from Nature. Today, he has become more money-minded. Man’s visit to the
moon has shaken his faith in God. He thinks that he is the master of this earth. Some people
think that there is no God and man is all-in-all in the world. Although people have money and
comforts, yet they have no peace of mind. Tension has increased in modern life. Thus one can
say that science has proved to be not an unmixed blessing.
