Animal and plant cells are quite similar in that many of the basic organelles in both cells have similar structure and functions.

These organelles include; nucleus, mitochondria, smooth and rough endoplasmic reticulum, golgi bodies, vacuoles, ribosomes and lysosomes.

The difference between the two cells however are that in plant cells we have a large central vacuole and a cell wall. Plant cells also contain chloroplasts. These organelles are not found in animal cells.
