Answer:
In terms of gifts which are things, I prefer things I can really use. The first few are things I will probably buy for myself when I find the ones I want. The rest are just outside what I’d buy for myself, but would like to try. Here are some things currently on my list:
A large cast iron griddle for stovetop use. (The power cord for my old electric one gave up a few weeks back. Cast iron lasts a lifetime.) I’d certainly use a griddle for pancakes. Probably also for burgers and other stuff.
A 12- or maybe 14-inch cast iron skillet. The 10-inch one is doing fine, but it’s a little small for some of what I want to do.
The corresponding Dutch oven, so I’d have a lid that went with both.
The right bike trailer for cargo, chiefly getting groceries and other purchases home from the store.
A pitchfork. For turning compost, not participating in angry mobs.
Or maybe a tumbling composter. That might even get the compost turned frequently enough to do some good.
The Waytools Textblade keyboard, with the Dvorak conversion plug-in. (Honestly, I’d like to try it before I bought, but I don’t think there’s any brick-and-mortar selling it.) In any case, touch-screen typing really doesn’t do it for me.
