Answer :

Makesh purchased it for 2200Rs

Step-by-step Explanation :

Given - Makesh sold an almirah at a gain of 7 1/2 %.had he sold it for

209 Rs less, he would have lost 2%,

To find : how much Makesh purchase it?

let he bought for 'x' Rs

gain = 7 1/2 % = 7.5%

S.P = x × (100 + 7.5)/100 = 107.5x/100

again loss = 2%

S.P = x × (100 - 2)/100 = 98x/100

according to question

107.5x/100 - 98x/100 = 209

9.5x/100 = 209

9.5x = 209 × 100

x = 209 × 100/9.5

x = 22 × 100

x = 2200

Hence Makesh purchased it for 2200 Rs
