Malaria is an infectious communicable disease transmitted by the bite of the female Anopheles mosquito. An estimated 3.3 billion people - half of the world's population are at risk of malaria. With around 300 million cases and 2 million deaths annually, malaria has emerged as a global problem. A cross-sectional questionnaire based observational study was conducted at a tertiary care hospital in Mumbai, India to find out the association between malarial transmission and housing conditions like overcrowding, ventilation, water storage and waste disposal. The knowledge, attitude and practices of the people was also assessed in this study which has given us an idea of our shortcomings and the way ahead.
