Heterogametic means:Having more than one kind of sex chromosome (or gamete)

In humans, males are naturally heterogametic because they possess two types of sex chromosome: X-chromosome and Y-chromosome.

Hey folk !!

Here's the answer you are looking for

Heterogametic means there is a difference in the gametes formed by a particular organism.

As a bio student, you must know that females, have only one type of gamete(egg) which is XX.

But in males, the gametes (sperms) can be XX or XY.

Since, the males produce two types of gametes, they are known as heterogametic. Whereas, the females are known as homogametic.
