Given : Malita had ₹5.48 of her own money.

She borrowed some from her   mother.

Then she went shopping. She bought a CD for ₹15.71 as a birthday gift for her brother.

Later she spent ₹3.60 for her lunch and

was left with ₹3.60.

To Find :  How much did she borrow from her mother.

Solution:

Malita had ₹5.48

She borrowed  from her   mother  =  x ₹

Hence total = x + 5.48  ₹

Total  Spend  = 15.71 +  3.60  = 19.31 ₹

left with ₹3.60.

Total money - total spend

x + 5.48  - 19.31 =  3.60

=> x  = 19.31 + 3.60  - 5.48

=> x =  22.91 - 5.48

=>x  = 17.43   ₹

she borrow from her mother = 17.43   ₹
