Mall culture is new in India but it is quickly gaining popularity because of its pomp and show. But it has a negative impact on the prospects of the small shopkeepers and traders. Whenever a new mall opens up in a city, it usually has an opening sale. Moreover a mall usually has shops of various famous brands from where people normally cannot buy as most of them are foreign brands. Their lucrative discounts tend to draw a huge customer base. People tend to buy more than what they require. So the malls experience great footfalls. All these reasons have reduced the prospects of the small shopkeepers and traders.
