Cells spend 90 percent of their time in interphase and in this the cell grows, produces proteins, replicates DNA and prepares itself for mitosis. So, interphase is the largest cell.

According to me the prophase is the longest phase in the mitotic cell division. It takes 50 to 60% time to condense chromatin into chromosomes, separation of centrosome, organization of microtubules and spindle formation.
