More often than not, it is man-made disasters that result in loss to life and property than natural disasters. Common scenarios of man-made disasters include nuclear fallouts, bridge collapses etc.
However, in recent times, with the advent of technology, the number of such disasters has increased alarmingly, with a huge amount of money lost in damages and compensations.
In India, the most common man-made disaster is structural failure i.e. buildings and bridges collapsing. It is caused due to shoddy workmanship and inferior quality construction materials. Every year, these failures and collapses cause death, create havoc and displace thousands of people all over the country.
