★Solution:-

Combined length of first & second piece:-

➺Length of first piece + second piece

➺0.75 + 2.278

➺3.028

Combined length of third & fourth piece:-

➺Length of third piece + fourth piece

➺6.11 + 6.72

➺12.83

To find how much longer were the third to fourth pieces when put together than the first and second pieces combined​, we subtract the the combined length of first & second piece from the combined length of third to fourth piece.That is,

➺(Combined length of third & fourth piece)-(Combined length of first & second piece)

➺12.83 - 3.028

➺9.802 m.

Hence,the required answer is 9.802 meters.
