Mangaluru experiences more rainfall than Mysuru since it lies on the western side of Western Ghats which is the windward side of the physical barrier with respect to the Arabian Sea current of the summer monsoons.
Mysuru, on the eastern side, lies on the leeward side and, hence, remains a rain shadow area.
