grandparents in the village. His grandfather is an active septuagenarian who still
works in the farm fields. However, his grandfather still believes in the old methods
of farming and denies any sort help from govt. employed agronomists, who visit
their village to help farmers improve crop production and soil related advice.
Mani observed that the wheat crop grown in his grandfather’s field, is not of the
same quality as that grown by the other farmers. Their farm wheat was small and
shrunken in size, whereas the other farms had a healthy wheat crop growing in the
fields. On closer observation, Mani saw groundnut plants growing in between the
wheat crops. This got him thinking and he deduced the reason, for the other
