Let's take the cost price of the watch as 'x'
Then,5%of x will be 5/100*x
A/Q,
5x/100+104=8x/100
=>5x+10400/100=8x/100
=>100(5x+10400)=800x
=>500x+1040000=800x
=>1300x=1040000
=>x=1040000/1300
=800
Now,he suffered a loss of 5%
So,5/100*800=760
therefore,te selling price of the watch is Rs 760

Define x :

let the cost price be x

Find the selling price if it is sold at a loss of 5%:

Loss = 5% of x = 0.05x

Selling price = x - 0.05x = = 0.95x

Find the selling price if it sold at a gain of 8%:

Gain = 8% of x = 0.08x

Selling Price = x + 0.08x = 1.08x

Solve x:

Difference in selling price = 1.08x - 0.95x = 0.13x

Difference in selling price - Rs 104

0.13x = 104

x = 104 ÷ 0.13 = Rs 800

Find the selling price of the watch:

Selling price = 0.95x = 0.95(800) = Rs 760

Answer: The selling price is Rs 760
