Manish travels from one place to another at 30 km/h and return at 90 km/h. If the total time taken is 8 h, find the total distance which he covered?

Given :

Speed while going (s₁) = 30 Km/hr

Speed while returning (s₂) = 90 Km/hr

Total time taken (T) = 8 Hour

To Find :

The total distance covered.

Solution :

Let the distance of one place to another be 'D'

Time taken by Manish to reach the place = \frac{D}{30}

Time taken by Manish to return from that place = \frac{D}{90}

As per question,

    \frac{D}{30}  +   \frac{D}{90}   =  8

⇒  \frac{3D + D}{90}        =  8

⇒    4D          =  720

∴       D          =  180 km.

∴ Total distance covered by Manish = 2D

                                                              = 2×180

                                                              = 360 Km

Hence, the total distance covered by Manish is 360 Km.
