Solution :

Let the distance of one place to another be 'D'

Time taken by Manish to reach the place = $\frac{D}{30}$

Time taken by Manish to return from that place = $\frac{D}{90}$

As per question,

    $\frac{D}{30}$  +   $\frac{D}{90}$   =  8

⇒  $\frac{3D + D}{90}$        =  8

⇒    4D          =  720

∴       D          =  180 km.

∴ Total distance covered by Manish = 2D

                                                              = 2×180

                                                              = 360 Km

Hence, the total distance covered by Manish is 360 Km.
