Hypotenuse square= side square + side square
hyp square =12square+35 square
hyp square=144+1225
hyp=root over 1369
therefore diagnal distance=37m.

Manish walks 12m north from his house and turns west to walk 35m to reach his friends house .So, the distance manish walk while returning is 37m.

Stepwise explanation is given below:

- Manish walks 12m to north be AB

then he walks 35m to west be BC

- We need to find AC

As we can see that it is a right angle ΔABC

In which right angle is at angle ABC

AB is height=h

BC is base =b

AC is hypotenous=H

- So, by using the pythagoras theoram

(H^2)=(h^2)+(b^2)

=(12)^2+(35)^2

=144+1225

=1369m^2

- H=√(1369)

H=37m

- So, the distance walked by the manish is 37m.
