Answer:

\frac{1}{15} fraction of her allowance remained after expenses.

Given:

Manisha spent two third of her allowance on food. One sixth on shopping. One tenth on books.

To find:

Fraction of her allowance remained after expenses.

Solution:

Let her allowance be x

The allowance spent on food = \frac{2}{3}x

The allowance spent on shopping = \frac{1}{6}x

The allowance spent on books = \frac{1}{10}x

Total allowance remaining = x – \frac{2}{3}x+\frac{1}{6}x + \frac{1}{10}x]

         = x – x[ \frac{20 + 5 + 3}{30}]

         = x – \frac{14}{15}

         =\frac{1}{15}
