Solution:

Given,

Speed 1 = 3 km/h

Speed 2 = 5 km/h

Speed 3 = 8 km/h

Time taken = 39.5 minutes

Total speed = 3 km/h + 5 km/h + 8 km/h

Total speed = 16 km/h

Now, convert speed into m/s:

By multipling the km/h from 0.278

16 km/h × 0.278 = 4.44m/s

Now, convert into seconds:

By multipling the minutes from 60

39.5 minutes × 60 = 2,370 s

Firstly recall the formula of distance:

Displacement = Speed × Time taken

Substitute known variables into the equation.

Displacement = 2,370 s × 4.44 m/s

Solve for displacement.

Hence, Displacement = 10522.8 m
