Given:

Manpreet earns rs.24000 per month. She spends 1/3rd of her income on health, 1/4th on food, and 1/8th of the remaining on entertainment. How much money does she save?

To find:

How much money does she save?

Solution:

The monthly income of Manpreet = Rs. 24000

The fraction of income spent on her health = \frac{1}{3}

∴ The money spent on her health = \frac{1}{3} \times 24000 = Rs.\:8000

The fraction of income spent on her food = \frac{1}{4}

∴ The money spent on her food = \frac{1}{4} \times 24000 = Rs.\:6000

The total money spent = Rs. 8000 + Rs. 6000 = Rs. 14000

∴ The remaining money = Rs. 24000 - Rs. 14000 = Rs. 10000

The fraction of the remaining spent on entertainment = \frac{1}{8}

∴ The money spent on entertainment = \frac{1}{8} \times 10000 = Rs.\:1250

Therefore,

From her income, Manpreet saves = Rs. 10000 - Rs. 1250 = Rs. 8750

Thus, Manpreet saves Rs. 8750 from his income.
