Given:

  • Manuel has 10\\ cups of flour to be used in baking cakes.
  • He wants to split them evenly among the containers he had, so that he can adjust the measurements of other ingredients.

To find:

To construct a function 'C\\' which would give number of cups of flour for the number of containers 'n\\'.

Function:

'Function' is the relation between each item of one set to the items of second set. This is explained using an example:

Let 'x\\' be an item in one set. It's function as a relation with an item in second set is given by "f(x)\\".

Answer:

  • As per the given data, the number of cups in each container is denoted by 'C\\'.
  • The number of containers is denoted by 'n\\'.
  • The total number of cups of flour available = 10\\
  • Now, the number of cups in each container as a function of the number of containers is expressed as follow:

C=10/n\\

∴ The number of cups in each container as a function of number of containers is given by the expression: C=10/n\\

Given :  Manuel has 10 cups of flour to be used in baking cakes,

he wanted to  split it evenly among the containers that he will use so that he can  adjust the measurements of other ingredients.

To Find : Construct a function C  which would give the number of cups of flour each of the number of  containers n will have.

Solution:

Number of Container = n

Flour = 10 cups

number of cups of flour  in each Container  =  Total Flour / Total number of cups

= 10/n

function C  which would give the number of cups of flour each of the number of  containers n will have. C =  10/n

C = 10/n

n = number of containers

C = number of cups of flour  in each Container
