Many educated Greek men fled to Italy because of the fall of Constantinople to Ottoman Turks in 1453.

The Ottoman Turks, an Islamic Empire conquered the city of Constantinople in 1453. In Constantinople many Greek Scholars were living who had preserved the classic Greek literature. These Greek Scholars fled to Italy owning to the Ottoman menace after the fall of Constantinople. So they took refuge in Italy where they were patronized by the state and thus they revived the classic Greek literature which lead to Renaissance in Italy.
