Hey !!

Option (1) Their isotopes have non-integral masses.

Many elements have non-integral atomic masses because their isotopes have non-integral masses.

Good luck !!

Many elements have non-integral atomic masses because :

2) They have isotopes

3) Their isotopes have different masses

Because isotopes have varying masses and occur in nature in variable proportions, elements have non-integral atomic masses.

Take Chlorine for example. The ratio of Cl^{35} and Cl^{37} is 3:1 .

So, Average atomic mass = \frac{35 \times 3 + 37\times 1}{3+1}= 35.5
