Many historians have called the revolt of 1857 the first way of independence. Do you agree? Give reasons for upper answer.

VD Savarkar, an Indian nationalist, called the Revolt of 1857 the First War of Indian Independence. However, post colonial historians disagree, as nationalism was yet to emerge as a unifying force to bind all Indians an make them work towards the cause of Independence.
