Their is a story behind the celebration of Holi. Hiranyakashipu was an evil king with various power from Lord Brahma. His son Prahlad was the devotee of Lord Vishnu and the demon king doesnt like that his son is devotee of lord Vishnu. He used various ways to kill his son Prahlad but everything fails. So he approached his sister Holika who has boons that she will not get burnt by fire. So she took Prahlad on her lap and sat on bornfires. As usally, Prahlad took the name of Lord vishnu amd at the very moment Holika got burnt and Prahlad was saved. So the story tells us the victory of good over evil.
