1M = 1024k size of new ram = (1024k *8) no of chips required = (1024*8)/(256*1) = 32

Number of ram chips needed = 8192 chips

GIVEN:-

Ram chip's capacity = 515 × 8 bits

Memory capacity = 1m × 32 bits

TO FIND:- No. of chips needed.

SOLUTION:-

  • As we know, 1m = 1024 × 1024 bits

As we know,

no. \: of \: chip \: needed =  \frac{memory \: capacity}{ram \: chips \: capacity}

ACCORDING TO QUESTION,

  • Memory capacity = 1m × 32 bits = 1024 × 1024 × 32 bits

By substituting values in the formula

Number of chips needed =

 =  \frac{1024 \times 1024 \times 32}{515 \times 8}  \\  =  \frac{1,048,576 \times 32}{4096}  \\    =\frac{33,554,432 }{4096}  \\  = 8192

Hence, Number of ram chips needed = 8192 chips
