Many scientists worked together to form a realistic model of the structure of the DNA molecule.

Part A: What was Erwin Chargaff’s major contribution to what we now know to be the structure of DNA?

Part B: How did Watson and Crick’s research confirm Chargaff’s conclusion through their development of the model of DNA?

Answer:

Part A: Chargaff' s major contribution was when the genetic material was decoded completely then he found that number purines equal to number of pyrimidines so A+G=C+T .

Part B: Watson and Crick were benefitted by Chargaff' s conclusion as they were able to code the bonding between nitrogenous bases and establish the fluid mosaic model or Watson and Crick model of DNA . Their development of DNA model explained the stability of the polymer made by the nucleotide structures because of the hydrogen bonds made in between nitrogenous bases this proved the Chargaff' s theory.
