Explanation:

This beautiful poem “Window” had been written by Wes Mage, who was born in Greenock, UK, in 1939. The poem is about a student. He heads down a long corridor as he is on his way to the classroom. As he walks through the corridor, he sees hundreds of books lying there inside the corner and their pictures covers colourful and bright. Each one a window. That means each book had something new which took him to a new world – the world that he has never visited and the world that he has never seen. It’s a fascinating world in which he sees elephants on the plains of Africa, jet airliners cruising high over the white clouds, icebergs, waterfalls, cavemen battling a sabre-tooth(wild-cat), while the family fears being prey to the wild beast. The poet has not seen the kind of world he sees through the windows of the books. But when he sits back in class, what he sees through the classroom windows, he sees a familiar world-a boring one. He sees the deserted playgrounds, the grey November sky, the rows of houses, the chimneys of the closed factories and many other things. In the last stanza, the poet says that he is always ready to get such an opportunity where he has to carry messages or registers to other classrooms or office as it gives him an ample chance of seeing these things again and again.
