Many stupas of Andhra Pradesh are on the banks of rivers (like Salihundam, Nagarjunakonda, Amaravati etc). Why do you think the monks selected these sites to build stupas?

In Salihundam, Amaravati and Nagarjunakonda, the stupas are located because there were many Buddhists evidence that was found in these areas.

They are the main Buddhist excavation sites that show the existence in the 2nd and 3rd centuries in the local areas. There are deities of the Tara and Mareechhi as well.
