yes maps are navigator's lifeline because maps help to find the location of the country where they had to go. Maps contain longitude and latitude , if the navigator knows the latitude and longitude he can easily find the place . There is no road on sea which will help the navigator to reach its destination.

Maps are the lifeline of the navigator because maps help in the calculation of distance of the place to be navigated

Explanation:

  • It is necessary for the officer of the ship to know the location of the ship in open sea as well as in congested harbors and waterways in maritime navigation. In order to ensure that the ship reaches its destination in the fastest, most efficient and timely manner possible, precise location, speed and heading are needed on board.
  • As the vessel exits or arrives in port, the need for specific location information becomes more important. Traffic of boats and other waterways risks complicates the treatment and raised the risk of collisions.
  • Maps aid ship’s captain and crew and are drawn graphically with utmost precision, The information given in the maps includes the geography of a given water area , water depth in that area, route navigation information and tides and currents in that particular waters.
  • Information on the location of some water bridges or buildings and constructions in the water together with the deviations on the Earth's magnetic field likely to happen on water are also given.
