Twice in a year the sun is directly overhead the equator. This is called Equinox. During equinox, the entire earth has equal length of day and night. One of its happen on March 21 . It is known as Vernal equinox which marks the beginning of Spring Season in northern hemisphere. Rhe second one, which occurs on the 23 September, is known as autumnal equinox and marks the beginning of autumn in Northern Hemisphere. Opposite occurs in Southern Hemisphere.
