Whole numbers are to the left of the decimal point .Decimals are to the right of the decimal point.
In decimals first place value is tenths(1/10), hundredths (1/100), thousandths (1/1000)
Rounding of numbers.
Write the number in a place value chart and circle the digit in the place to which you want to round.
In the place value chart underline the digit to the right of the place to which you are rounding.
If the digit to the right is less than 5 the digit in the place to which you are round still the same if the digit to the right is 5 or greater the digit in the rounding place increases by 1.
Drop the digits after the place to which you are rounding.

Solution:
2.548= 2.55
Marco round the speed of a honeybee to hundredth(2.55)
