Marcus’s is pay for one hour is $8.40. Now we find out the total amount he earns in a week.

Since he works 26 hours he gets a pay of 26*8.40= $218.40 the next we find his total earnings a year which  is $218.40*48 = 10,483.20  since his yearly income is more than $10,000 he has to pay tax.

Find the amount he earns in a week:

1 hour = $8.40

26 hours = 8.40 x 26 = $218.40

Find the amount he earns in a year:

1 week = $218.40

48 weeks = 218.40 x 48 = $10,483.20

Conclusion:

Since $10,483.20 > $10,000

⇒ he has to pay tax

Answer: He has to pay tax.
